Values & Professional Development Programs

Values and Professional Development

VPD programs enable the growth of enterprises by providing exemplary, value-laden, quality training, and other human resource interventions. VPD programs are available as in-house, public-run seminars and lectures catering to participants from different business sectors.

Basic Supervisory Training
Supervisors are management’s vital link to the workforce that constitutes the lifeblood of the organization. What makes a supervisor effective is the ability to tap this resource, harnessing individual personalities in order to meet company goals and add to the bottom line.

The effective supervisor is well equipped with skills that are associated with successful supervision - planning, leading, organizing and controlling among others. Effective supervision also means clearly communicating the company’s expectations to the team, as well as understanding the needs, interests, and capabilities of his subordinates and making necessary adjustments on his leadership and management styles in order to motivate and facilitate the continual delivery of expected results.

This program is designed to help the supervisor understand the critical areas of supervision as well as identify those skills that can help them become more effective leaders.

Career Planning
Today, more than ever, the world of work has become so volatile --- even what used to be very strong and stable organizations are downsizing, merging, or simply folding up. Many talented and skilled workers are either displaced or misplaced, forced to take on jobs that they are either not prepared for or comfortable with.
People who develop a clear vision of their life’s mission, who strategically plan and establish meaningful goals along the way, and who consistently work towards the attainment of such goals are never victims of circumstances.

This program is designed to help employees have the confidence to face life’s crises, generate and expand career options, always be prepared for career shifts and make the best career choices when necessary. It aims to provide them tools to help them chart their career direction and perspective, identify and expand career opportunities available to them, and refine their career focus. Objectives:
  • To help each participant have a refined career focus and be able to chart their career’s future direction
  • To identify and expand career opportunities.
  • To prepare participants for career shifts by identifying ways each person can grow and expand on current skills and capabilities.

Coaching for Better Performance
These days, more and more organizations recognize the value of quality coaching in bringing their people to the peak of their potential, something that the world of sports has always known. As in sports, good coaches in a corporate setting help focus time and effort where they do the most good.

They provide "just in time" consulting as they give the team and each individual objective performance feedback (the good and the bad); introduce ideas, tools, and techniques for changing behavior and performance; monitor progress and formulate appropriate strategies for adapting to the needs and requirements of the situation on hand; and offer the necessary boost to rally the individual and the team towards reaching their objectives. And while third-party coaches have been quite successfully utilized by many organizations, in-house coaching by properly-trained managers and supervisors can offer equal, if not more effective and efficient coaching.

This program is designed to help managers and supervisors learn coaching principles, best practices, tips and techniques to help them develop and hone their skills in coaching their subordinates towards greater productivity.

Communication for Harmony
Recognizing the need for establishing and maintaining good working relationships, this program offers participants with an opportunity to not only improve the technical aspect of their communication skills, but also to learn how to value the people they will be working with.

Communication Skills Enhancement
Effective communication skills always top the list of major skills expected of all employees from all levels of the organization because these skills are inseparably connected to the effectiveness and efficiency of their performance.

Communication skills not only influence the quality of relationships within the organization, but also to a large degree, determine how the organization is perceived by the people and groups that the organization deals with. This is particularly true for the administrative staff that deals with both external and external customers.

Like any other set of skills, each person’s communication skills need to be continually reviewed and enhanced. Going through the practice-feedback-practice cycle will not only make employees more aware of their current communication competency levels, but also help them identify their specific weak areas and recognize various options for continuous improvement.
This program is designed to help participants enhance their communication skills in general with the end goal of increasing their overall work effectiveness and efficiency. It focuses on useful, practical, easy-to-remember tips and techniques covering the essential aspects of communication, which they can begin to apply immediately.

Conflict Management
Workplace conflicts can destroy the image of an organization and slow down its momentum at an alarming pace. This is a threat to any organization which depends greatly on employee performance. It must be stopped or it will stop the organization’s progress.

This seminar will focus on how to identify the existence of workplace conflicts and how to manage and eventually resolve these conflicts in the organization.
Participants of this seminar will learn the nature of conflicts and the prescribed techniques to avoid or professionally address situations that may lead to conflicts.

Creative Preventive Maintenance Systems (CPMS)
Preventive maintenance is conducted to keep equipments working and extend its life. This course is designed for maintenance personnel and anybody who is involved or interested in maintenance of equipments and equipment systems. This course aims to improve the existing preventive maintenance systems through analysis of work loads, the application of measuring techniques, and the application of a method in setting up a preventive maintenance system.

Customer Service
These days, customers expect a lot from organizations. They demand higher quality and more service than ever before, and they are impatient when they do not get the results they expect. As a service provider, you play a very important role in your organization. If customers believe you treat them well, they will come back. If they think you treat them poorly, they usually take their business elsewhere.

This program is about your relationships with the customers. It deals with skills and attitudes. The skill and attitudes help you improve your interactions with customers. It also deals with perspectives: providers and customers may see quality service differently. The perspectives will help you see customers and their needs in a way that will help you serve customers. You will come away knowing how important your job is and feeling confident that you can do it well. During the program, you will consider customer interactions both from your point of view as a provider of service and from your customer’s point of view.

Life Style Planning
“Life is what we make it,” we’re told time and again --- probably because it’s a simple truth that needs repeating until it is learned. Of course, there are adversities that come our way, not of our own making and over which we may have little to no control, but we certainly can choose how to will deal with them. If we face life’s problems, challenges, and changes (e.g. retirement, downsizing, unemployment, career change, mid-life crisis, etc.) positively and refuse to give in to bitterness, fear, or self-pity --- we will see within them the potential to benefit and bless our lives.

This program is designed to help participants who are undergoing transitions in their professional, personal, or business lives to have a clearer perspective of the challenges that they face; to identify and choose appropriate strategies that will help them not only to successfully cope with circumstances but also turn things in their favor; and to draw up specific action plans for managing life such that it truly becomes just what they wish it to be.

Objectives:
  • To be able to identify and choose appropriate strategies that will help each participant to not only cope but also tackle the challenges they face.
  • To be able to draw up a specific action plan for managing life’s challenges

Performance Management
Performance Management is an ongoing process of bringing the performance levels of employees in line with the organization’s short-term and long-term goals. It is setting up the employee for successful accomplishment of his individual work goals in consonance with the organization’s goals. Managers and supervisors play a vital role in the overall success of the organization and this seminar would provide them with an overview of Performance Management. The seminar also tackles how one can more successfully carry out Performance Management in such a way that it becomes a significant vehicle for bringing the employees’ performance closer to the organization’s expectations.

Problem Solving and Decision Making
Problems occur and decisions must be made at any level in the organization. Regardless if the problem requires a simple or complex solution, what matters is that the people who must make decisions are equipped with the right skills to decide what is best for the organization. Unfortunately, there are many barriers to decision making. One of the most major of such barriers is the employees’ lack of problem solving skills. Problem solving requires a vision of the future --- it requires knowing how alternatives are likely to work before they are initiated and implemented as corrective actions. One must also be able to accurately calculate cost-benefit ratios and decide which of the alternatives are best for the organization.
