Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is a system of automatically producing finished products by using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. CAD and CAM work together in that the digital model generated in CAD is inputted to the CAM software package. In this course, students learn the necessary knowledge and skills in the designing and manufacturing of complex parts using CAD/CAM system.
Upon completion of the course, the participants must be able to: 1. Understand and appreciate basic geometry creation commands like analyze, create, file, modify, xform, delete, and screen; 2. Know how to create 2D/3D geometry and appreciate the logic involved; 3. Apply 2D/3D geometry knowledge to create wire frame for surface creation; 4. Use and appreciate basic surface creation principle to create a model; 5. Know how to modify surfaces; 6. Apply knowledge of 2D/3D and multi surface tool paths and understanding of the processes involved; 7. Know how to use post processor to translate tool paths into NC codes;
